very much enjoyed this 2nd book to the series, Cyrus and Anitogne are sure growing into quite the Team and leadership .

a lot better than the first one, having the characters more developed made it better and easier to follow

i had an easier time following what was happening in this one.

There was a lot of pain and injury, strange mutations, and almost-undeadness, which I did not enjoy. I didn't appreciate it anything like liked the first book, but somehow it doesn't quite seem like a disappointment. And, I am still planning to read the next book.

With almost all fantasy books I read, I have some wish (deluded though it is) to be part of the magical world. Not so with this one. If this is how the wizards live then I am content as a muggle. That is somehow refreshing.

Even better than the first book.

Not my favorite book, but a very good read

Each time I reread, I’m reminded why this is one of my all time favorite book series

Death by living... "and at the end, like every good man, you will die of having lived."

Very quick paced and very fascinating read. I love how Wilson intertwines the Christian worldview into a Percy Jackson like world.

The author introduced a bunch of new, half-baked characters that didn’t seem to come alive as the main characters did. Secondly, this book was very dark in some spots. It didn’t bother me so much, but I wouldn’t call this a kids book. Maybe a teenager and above book? Anyways, some of the darker parts surprised me…I also felt like, in this second book in the series, nothing was accomplished other than new characters coming in, and a new villain. No villains were defeated. ☹️ *spoiler ahead* the only thing I think that was accomplished was their mother came back from her coma, and it was at the very end of the book, and wasn’t explained. At least if it was, I missed that part. Also, Arachne got on my nerves.
The amount of description in this book is incredible. Also well done. However, the author literally described everyone as having one of these or multiple: a square jaw. Broad shoulders, deep, old eyes, freckles, thick arms, a curling lip. I mean seriously, it had me laughing. Next, there was a ton of stuff in this book that was just nasty, plain and simple. I mean the whole squid thing was DISGUSTING. I know it was probably meant to be, and I appreciated the creativity of the idea. However, there were lots more parts that were just so gross and nasty. 🤮 also this book was just wacky

However, this was still a pretty good book, despite the above. Well written, with a lot of Christian themes. Interesting read i Guess.

Excited to read the third next.

The villain in my opinion is quite

wilson. his choppy and quick writing style is so distinctive and unique, and he just writes darn good characters. i loved how he weaves both historical and mythological figures into the story, implying that they are real and some of them are still living today in secret.

another book on the list for my future kids to read.

I was not disappointed with the second book in the Ashtown Burials series. Chaos!, suspense! and an Order divided…
Wilson gives enough answers for an enjoyable read, but held back enough to make me want to snatch up the next one fast as I could!

It was much better than I expected based on the cover and overview. Lovable characters, a compelling team. I want to know what happens next!

EVER. So I am slightly biased towards these books.
But that doesn't change anything. The Drowned Vault is a fantastic sequel to The Dragon's Tooth that met and indeed exceeded my expectations. There are so many great elements to this book it's hard to know where to start...
Well, Phoenix is on the loose still, and this time he has the Tooth, and that's bad. And pretty soon, Cyrus, Antigone, and the gang are taking a trip somewhere else, out of Ashtown, because angry transmortals are on the loose. That's all you need to know for the plot- read it for the rest :)

Cyrus' bravery, courage and nerve is so incredible, especially towards the end... I really enjoyed reading this book and excited to read the 3rd one!

It was a great follow up to Dragon’s Tooth. Lots of action, fun characters, and well-written scenes. Looking forward to the next one.

The journey of weirdness continues

The best I can describe this series is "human history meets Harry Potter on high doses of adrenaline."

This type of bizarre supernatural fiction is not usually my thing, but the storyline and writing are so good, I'm hooked.

It took me a bit to get into this one but once it got going -applause-!!

I love Arachne and the twist to her story/place in mythology! The ending with her and someone she cares about made me grin.

Something I appreciate about this series is how cohesive the additional books are to the other. I’ve read some books that have huge major developments, plus the cliffhangers, that just seem to jump so far with them that may not have set up the story in a way that supports it. Fantasy is a forgiving genre in that respect but it’s still nice when the story’s foundation and the build up are so well done!

I love how relatable the characters are and that Cyrus and Antigone don’t have any “super powers” or “special qualities” besides determination and that they are training/learning to deal with situations.

I really appreciated the anti zombie theme. This points out quality of life, what sets our souls apart, and making hard but important choices about the kind of person you want to be.

It fit the story, but made for difficult listening
